A Retrospective Glimpse
In 1962 the Four Winds Motel opened its doors along the nation's longest continuous street, Colfax Avenue. For many years the motel served as refuge to traveling guests before converting into an assisted living community in the early 1990s. Today, the mid-century structure is being given new life once again. This time, as sixty-four studio and one-bedroom condominium residences.
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
Rather than demolish a pillar of the West Colfax community, the developer, Flywheel Capital, elected to renovate the existing 30,000 SF building. As a result, less waste made its way to the landfill, a historic structure was saved and the storied life of a neighborhood icon writes another chapter.
Nip & Tuck
A lot has changed since 1962, including homeowner demands. Aside from a customary cosmetic face lift the entire structure was re-built from the inside out yielding modern amenities for a twenty-first century homeowner.
“Circa West offers the best of both worlds: the architectural panache from a mid-century structure with the modern amenities for today's lifestyle.”
